scheid family wines
Family owned and operated, Scheid Family Wines vineyards are located along a 70-mile spread of the Salinas Valley in the Monterey AVA. The array of microclimates and soils across the 3,000 acres farmed, gives Scheid Family Wines an optimal selection of estate grown fruit to work with each vintage. The unique range of temperatures and four distinct climatic zones allow for the cultivation of over 35 wine grape varieties, each planted in the location that is best suited to achieving the highest quality of fruit.
metz road
We craft small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a benchland vineyard tucked along Metz Road in the Salinas Valley. Bound by the rugged terrain of Pinnacles National Forrest to the east and the rolling fog of Monterey Bay to the north, Riverview Vineyard gives us just 16 barrels of wine each vintage. The site—carved over millennia by ancient granitic soils, marine fog and powerful winds—evokes the coveted terroir of Burgundy.
craftwork
Our wines are handcrafted from estate grown grapes from our vineyards in Monterey County, located in California’s golden Central Coast. This growing region is a wonder, with a myriad of soils, elevations and microclimates that allow us to grow an array of varieties. Through vigilant attention to these influences, we strive to showcase the natural expression of the vineyard, variety and vintage in every bottle. In a world of flashy technology, some might call this helplessly old-fashioned.
james bryant hill
Early in the Gold Rush years, James Bryant Hill made his way from Boston to California. He did not arrive seeking gold, but rather to farm a large land grant between the Salinas River and what is now the town of Salinas. Almost 170 years after he first put seed to soil, we continue to sustainably farm our estate vineyards in the same valley. It is to this pioneering spirit that we salute James Bryant Hill and this bountiful place we call home.
Our vineyards are located on California’s lush Central Coast, one of the finest growing regions in the world. To honor Hill’s pioneering spirit in the agricultural industry, James Bryant Hill wines are 100% sustainably farmed, blending traditional farming techniques with the use of cutting-edge technology.
ghost hull
Ghost Hull was created to express the unique terroir of our single vineyard site in the San Lucas AVA. Located in the southern part of Monterey County, with elevations ranging from 325 to 1,250 feet, this area is susceptible to morning fog, yet is also sheltered from the breezes off Monterey Bay. The overall climate is warmer during the day than areas to the north, while temperatures often fluctuate 40 degrees or more from day to night during the summer. These dramatic swings contribute to a longer growing season, giving the fruit ample time to develop. The mixture of sandy and clay loam soils offer the benefits of draining well while absorbing and radiating heat to the vines. These growing conditions make our San Lucas Vineyard ideal for the development of Cabernets with full body, brilliant color and rich flavors.

lightly
We allow the grapes to hang on the vine to reach full flavor potential. Then we harvest, crush and ferment until dry. Using our proprietary, state-of-the-art technology, we gently pull the alcohol from a portion of the wine, leaving behind an alcohol-free product. We then blend the alcohol-free wine with the finished wine to find a low alcohol product that hits the sweet spot of flavor, mouthfeel and body.
An 85 calorie per serving wine (30% fewer calories than an average serving!) striking the perfect balance between zero sugar/low calorie/low alcohol and delicious flavor.

roku
Our Riesling grapes were picked in the cool, early morning hours then immediately brought to the winery. Upon arrival they were whole-cluster pressed and slowly fermented entirely in stainless steel at a very cold temperature to preserve the delicate aromatics and retain the unique varietal character of Riesling.
On the nose, layers of apricot and Anjou pear intermingle with bursts of aromatic jasmine. Flavors of fresh nectarine, citrus, guava and a hint of honeysuckle are framed with crisp acidity that balances the sweetness anddelivers a delightful, lively finish
sea phantom
Sea Phantom was created to express the unique terroir of a single vineyard site. We select the top vineyard blocks from each vintage to craft a vineyard-designated Pinot Noir that is authentic in style and exemplifies this complex, ethereal varietal. Named for its placement high atop a bench overlooking the Salinas River, Riverview Vineyard is located on the eastern side of the Salinas Valley two miles southeast of Soledad and adjacent to the Pinnacles—a premier winegrowing site. The micro-climate is noted for its moderate conditions and cold afternoon winds, ideal for cool-climate varietals such as Pinot Noir. Evening coastal fogs in the spring and summer often linger until midmorning the following day. This natural cooling effect slows photosynthesis and causesa unique lengthening of the growing season.
