ANTIGUA DISTILLERY

The Award Winning Distillery is located in St. Johns, Antigua In 1929 a group of eight local businessmen came together to buy molasses in bulk and control the distillation process for their rums. All but one of the group were successful rum shop owners. The members of the group were John R. Anjo, Joseph de Freitas, Manuel Dias, Emanuel C. Farara, Quin Farara, Emanuel Gomes, C.F. Joaquim and John A. Vieira The first rum produced by ADL was sold un aged rum in casks to local rum merchants by allotment and aged or matured rum known as Caballero Rum. Each merchant blended and bottled the rum under a distinctive private label for sale in his rum shop. Some of the old rum labels were Red Cock, Silver Leaf, White House, Black Cock, and Bolanda. The only private label that has survived is Bolanda, which is still sold at Bushy's Rum Shop in Bolans The choice of copper rather than stainless steel is important, as interaction between alcohol and copper contributes to the flavour of the finished rum, and mellows it as it ages. The ADL still is the only column still in the Caribbean to which other metals have not been added. All maintenance and repair work are done with copper to preserve the integrity of the still. With the new still in place ADL has expanded its product mix. English Harbour Rum was introduced in 1994, and named for Antigua's historic naval tradition at English Harbour in the south of the island, and with a bow to the Royal naval tradition of distributing a daily tot of rum to each sailor on board its ships. ENGLISH HARBOUR 5 YEAR OLD RUM English Harbour Five Year Rum has Superior excellence and flavor. Viewed by Rum Connoisseurs in the Caribbean and Worldwide as an impeccably smooth, light bodied Rum. This Rum is aged in oaken casks and is a minimum of five years old. With numerous awards under its belt English Harbour 5yr Rum speaks for itself as it has converted many cognac and scotch drinkers into 5yr Old adorers. The polished copper hue of the spirit prepares the drinker for the initial impression of cherry, oak and a wisp of smoke. The first sip of ripe apple, coconut and hints of cinnamon fill the palate. Then the slightly sweet coconut, spice and smoke finish complements the body of the mature spirit.
Rich...amber colour. Mildly spicy, banana nut bread aromas...off dry medium to full bodied palate with robust toffee, roasted nuts, sugared butter and brown spice flavors...very rich and sexy with great mix ability. ENGLISH HARBOUR 10 YEAR OLD RESERVE RUM With a perfectly balance blend, English Harbour 10yr Reserve is a deep mahogany rum distilled from molasses Aged 10 years in used whisky and bourbon barrels. First unveiled in 2006, English Harbour 10yr Reserve, instantly began making a name for itself and gave English Harbour 5yr drinkers something to graduate to. Lightly heavier in flavor and taste than the five year old rum. Initially soft and closed. The smoky oak flavors are well balanced with citrus, dried fruits, vanilla and burnt sugar notes. Coconut, cinnamon and tropical florals on the aroma prepare you for butterscotch in the initial taste followed by a touch of thick coffee and baked apple in the viscous mouth feel.
Smoky cedar in the body lasts through the finish and opens beautifully revealing hints of spice - cardamom, menthol, rosemary, caramel and ripe blackberries. KOKOCARIBE COCONUT TO BE LAUNCHED IN EARLY 2026 Kokocaribe is clear, moderately light-bodied and has aromas and tastes of coconut and almonds. It's moderately light on the palate, with a syrupy feel. The finish is smooth and easy, allowing it to be consumed straight, on the rocks, or with any of your favourite mixers.
Kokocaribe is sold in 750ml and 1-litre sizes.
